Information

Danganronpa: Targeting Despair is an AU where the entire danganronpa timeline is rewritten hence modifying the already established killing games, with the addition of three new games : Danganronpa: Heartless Disguise, Danganronpa: Perfect Oblivion and Danganronpa: Wonderful World.

Full name The Killing School Life
Occured in Hope's Peak Academy

Events[]

Chapter 1[]

Mondo and Kiyotaka are now best friends from the start. Sayaka's plan succeeds and Leon is murdered inside Makoto's room. However, Sayaka is found guilty and executed.

Chapter 2[]

Ishimondo is slowly blooming between Taka and Mondo. Chihiro decides to help his friends by building Alter-Ego, however it soon became an object coveted by many students, including Hifumi. Chihiro murders Hifumi (mostly by accident) and is found guilty before being executed. Genocider reveals herself at the end of the class trial.

Chapter 3[]

Genocider is scaring the remaining students, promping a tense situation to fall on the survivors. Kyoko uses Alter-Ego to learn more about the school and her missing memories. Celestia once again took the bait for money and manipulates Yasuhiro before killing him, trying to blame Kiyotaka but she's found as the blackened and executed.

Chapter 4[]

Sakura is revealed as the traitor, not easing the tensions arising, yet Hina, Taka and Makoto manage to stop her from comitting suicide. The disguised Mukuro tries to get closer to Makoto, manipulating him for an upcoming plan. Toko is eventually found dead and Byakuya is deemed as the culprit, claiming she was a threat for the group and his personal life. Trying to escape his execution, he ultimately fails and is executed at his turn.

Chapter 5[]

With the tensions gone, calm seems to profile itself, only until Mukuro is found dead and Makoto pinned as her murderer by Junko herself. In truth, Mukoro is still alive. Makoto is saved by Alter-Ego and survives his execution and reunites with Kyoko.

Chapter 6[]

The six surviving students are tasked by Monokuma to uncover the mysteries shrouding the academy and to solve Mukuro's fake death. During the class Trial, Junko murders Mukuro to feel the darkest despair, and the survivors ultimately decide to leave the academy when offered to. Junko executes herself.

Epilogue[]

Aoi Asahina, Sakura Ogami, Mondo Oowada, Kiyotaka Ishimaru, Makoto Naegi and Kyoko Kirigi escape Hope's Peak alive. A romantic bond between Mondo and Taka is hinted at.

Enamored by the game, Fuyuhiko plans to kill Mahiru but Peko deals the lethal blow, prompting herself as the blackened. However, during the class trial, when designated by her classmates, Monokuma cancels the vote, affirming Fuyuhiko is the true blackened. After a tearfully parting, the class is executed and an empty Peko is allowed to go free. Suddenly, everything collapses and a white light overwhelmes her.

Prologue[]

Peko awakens in a pod, in the future foundation. The New World Program failed and her classmates are now in a comatose state, including Fuyuhiko. A very disheveled Makoto greets her and allows her to stay in the base until they found a way to bring them all back. Grasping to this tiny and only hope, she accepts.

Major changes[]

  • The Future Foundation approved this project, as it would have allowed them to use Izuru's abilities to battle against the Remnants as the Ultimate Hope.
  • Chiaki is alive, Chisa Yukizome was killed in her place by Junko in order to bring despair to Izuru, whom she took care of during the Hope Project, and the class.

  • While the main timeline is completely changed, only Hope will come, Heartless Disguise, Wonderful World and Perfect Oblivion are intended to be worked on. (Though a oneshort regarding Peko is planned as well.)
  • The other author of this project (working on WW and PO) doesn't feel comfortable with her AUs being included in this page for the time being.
  • Danganronpa: Hope will come, while ironically the last one to chronologically happen in this timeline, is currently the most advanced part of the project
