Dangan Ronpa: Unser Sommerende is a story written by LusyInTheSky.
While set in a universe entirely seperate from that of the official Dangan series, the premise is far too familiar: 15 talented though somewhat unfortunate students are confined by a very evil yet very fluffy thing, and are encouraged to kill one another without being caught to escape.
Development[]
The original idea for Unser Sommerende (approximately in June 2019) was a story that, while heavily inspired by Dangan Ronpa, was still a different concept, involving 8 high school students who sneak into their high school at night, and for whatever reason, meet gruesome fates. The theme was more of a generic horror concept. This idea was later changed into a more traditional killing game style, with more students added to reach the total of 15, and 4 students replaced entirely. After months of occasionally working on the planning, the story began. It went on a temporary hiatus, in order for the author to create a custom OST for the story, in order to differentiate it from other killing game based works. The writing is now approaching the story's conclusion.
The reasons for the author's creation of the story is due to their appreciation of the concept behind Dangan Ronpa, which was upset by a few major qualms about how it was handled in the games. The story was effectively created to fulfill the void left by the author being unable to enjoy the mainline series.
Summary[]
Wish's Apex Academy, U.K. 15 students wake up in a bland classroom, having no recollection of the events leading up to that point, other than their invitation to the academy. Soon, as one might expect, they find themselves face-to-face with the cute, bloodthirsty, and altogether rather odd being that calls himself Monoyaki. With the only option of escape being murder, the Mutual Killing Venture begins with an air of distrust as each student considers the possiblity of any one of them betraying the larger group for their own interest.

English | Jane, being the Ultimate Conceptual Artist, tries not to act stereotypically "odd", a habit she developed when she was younger. She's really quite social and interested in others, but suffers from a lack of confidence in herself, which can result in difficulty making proper connections. She also posesses a somewhat cheeky sense of humour.
Her art mostly consists of blobs of colour on a canvas as well as found objects with minor alterations. The untrained eye wouldn't be too impressed, but art critics were pleased enough with it for her to become well-known enough to be invited to the academy. Well, perhaps she's the only person her age doing that sort of stuff. |

English | Archibald, or as he's more often known, "Archie", is usually just sitting by himself not interacting with anybody else, staring at a potted venus fly trap of his, along with anyone or anything that may pass by. As the Ultimate Botanist, dedication to his talent would be expected, but he seems to lack any dedication to much else. He also happens to be sensitive, often whimpering like a tiny rabbit upon the slightest sign of aggression from someone else.
He spent his entire childhood with this same personality, his only friends being his plants. This complete dedication meant the construction of his own personal encyclopedia, which, upon being scouted by Wish's Apex, was found to contain numerous undiscovered species. Unfortunately, his fly trap seems to be the only one he has with him during the mutual killing. |

English | Mary is the kind of person who has goals in mind, and is set out to achieve them by any means necessary. Analytical and effective, and perhaps unempathetic, she usually is dedicating herself to collecting any information that may be of use to her, and applying it effectively. It's almost robotic...
Her talent as Ultimate Reenactment Soldier involves the reenactment of historical battles and events, and was introduced to it by her parents when she was young, most likely to give her a way to vent out her power fantasies. This only strengthened this part of her, however, and she now styles herself as if she were a modern day conquerer. She isn't actually descended from Napoleon Bonaparte, she just added it to her name. |

Robin Hazelwood | Ultimate Revolutionary | Male

English | Robin is a man of ideals, one who strives for what he thinks is best. Abrupt and expressive, someone in average conversation would probably end up being annoyed with him; when orating to a large crowd, not so much. He uses his charismatic ability as the so-called Ultimate Revolutionary, attempting to bring a new order to the nation. Whatever that order may be.
Realistically he should be in prison for treason and planning to overthrow the government, but instead he was invited to Wish's Apex, perhaps because arresting him would make him a martyr to his cause. Or maybe they just plan to re-educate him and use his abilities to further the government's own purposes. If that's the case, maybe he has a point. |

English | At most times, or at least half the time, Dan is what you'd expect upon first viewing him; laid back, open minded, and well, a hippy. If hippies even exist anymore. His in-depth knowledge of what he (and probably nobody else) calls "New Age Spiritualism" lead to him being classed as the Ultimate New Age Spiritualist.
However, nearly everything he says in regards to spiritual wisdom is made up on the spot, which either makes him a fraud, or truly deserving of the title. Not to mention, despite preaching that everything's alright and lovely, he is easily prone to stressing and breaking down at the first sign of adversity, completely losing his usual demeanor. |

English | Amber is the shortest of the students, and also happens to be alarmingly friendly, like a little puppy dog. She'll always be trying to follow at least one person around, and when she isn't, she begins to panic. She was like this from a rather young age, and so she decided to craft a plush penguin toy for herself, named Mr. Penpen.
Despite having no former experience with sowing, this plush was incredibily detailed and well-crafted. This natural ability continued to develop until, inevitably, she was selected by the academy as the Ultimate Seamstress, apparently able to create anything she pleases with her skills. |

English | No matter who you are or what you do, chances are, Charlotte wouldn't trust you under any circumstance. Everything is a possible lie or threat to her, which might very well have been a good thing to think in a mutual killing situation, if she wasn't so explosive about it. She only believes in her own conclusions.
Due to literally not trusting any sources of information, it was only a matter of time before she was marked as the Ultimate Conspiracy Theorist. How on Earth that's considered a talent is anybody's guess, but the size and scope of her writings on her insane view of the world are remarkably coherant and detailed. |

English | Lucy is... Odd. Very odd. First thing that's odd, there shouldn't be such a thing as an Ultimate Alchemist since alchemy hasn't existed since the middle ages. Secondly, her outfit almost looks like some sort of fantasy adventurer character, which only cements in the strangeness. Thirdly, she refers to her work in chemistry as "potion brewing".
Fourthly, she always seems to be in a world of her own. She tends to stare at walls and random objects in complete wonder. Sudden noises and movements frighten her enough to distract her from these things. Enough of this stress can bring on a full breakdown. Despite this, she's decently clever sometimes, provided she can focus from not being distracted or scared. |

American | Somewhat of a hotshot, Jo is usually just trying to be... Charismatic, to some extent. The main goal is pleasing the crowd, it seems. It comes off as annoying, really, but... You can't help but love him, somehow. It's strange. Most of the charisma is just lame jokes and puns and snarks, really. It's still effective.
Most celebrity types are charming, really, and it makes sense considering his talent of being the Ultimate Actor. Well, he's not really a celebrity yet. He's successful for his age, and his talent at assuming any sort of role is impressive, but he's not exactly recognisable. Well, at least he has charm. Annoying charm, but charm nonetheless. |

English | Lead bassist (and in his opinion, frontman) of the sudden sensation band known as "The Beatups", James is likely the most well known of the group. How talented he really is as a musician is debatable, but millions of screaming teenage fangirls beg to differ on that regard, so it was only a matter of time for him to be announce as the Ultimate Rock Star.
Like most who achieve fame so quickly, the popularity has gotten to his head fast. Assertive and controlling, his band was practically at his whim, and with the tense situation that the students find themselves in, it's likely he'll try to assert authority over them as well, for the "sake of safety". Most people would tolerate his behaviour, though, simply due to him seeming so lovable in the concerts and interviews. |

English | Terry is, honestly, a really good person. Well, that's a weird way to introduce someone, but it's true. He's incredibly outgoing and willing to help people to an unnecessary degree. He seems to get a kick out of it, perhaps, seeming very pleased at the slightest approval.
This outgoing assistance of his often takes the form of crafted objects for others, using his talent in metalworking. His insane work ethic as well as quality inevitably made him the Ultimate Blacksmith. Honestly, it's kind of disturbing how perfect he seems. He's got to be hiding something, right?... Maybe he just gets by thanks to his pet mouse Joan. She's adorable. |

English | Molly was raised in a filthy rich family and had very little contact with the vast majority of the population who aren't filthy rich. It isn't surprising that she hence thinks of herself as superior to most of them, developing to be haughty and overconfident (not to mention emotional outbursts despite her self-declared "elegant nature".). In fact, the only non-rich people she ever interacted with were the butlers and maids of her family's mansion.
Eventually, she realised that her family had done no work to earn their place and that the non-rich were doing all the work in the household, but instead of realising the flaw in that, she decided to become a maid to prove that she was just as competent as the "untouchables". Surprisingly skilled and alarmingly efficient, she ended up being scouted by the academy as the Ultimate Maid. |

English | Sadie, like many her age, ended up becoming part of a typical "popular girls" group at her previous school. However, something was different about this particular "popular girl", considering that she was able to use social manipulation and charm to not only dominate her particular group, but the entire school. Even the teachers made sure not to get on her bad side.
Of course, this makes her the Ultimate Clique Girl, if that's even a talent. Being able to people manage like that certainly is, at least. Though able to be abrasive to her "foes", those who are on her side find her surprisingly caring, almost like a mother figure to her group. Of course, if she gives you a "nice calm healing mom talk", she'll still probably just be collecting your secrets just in case she has to blackmail you. |

English | Cody, or as he prefers to be called, "Rocky", is the type that thinks on their feet, and is somewhat of a vigilante with a cocky, overconfident nature. He almost seems like some sort of character, wearing one of those raccoon skin hats the old rangers of America would've worn, and putting on a cowboy-sounding acccent, despite having never even been to the U.S.
His eccentricities are backed up with a fitting talent, however; as the Ultimate Marksman, the lad is able to wield his twin revolvers and fire in an instant, and with alarming accuracy. What's even more alarming is the fact that he's even allowed to carry those things around with him. Are they even loaded?... If they are, then hopefully he'll be able to control himself. |

English | Most of Mia's life has been spent in her room, sleeping, snacking, and of course, gaming. She only goes outside when she absolutely has to. One may ask what talent could such a girl possibly have... And Ultimate Lazy Student doesn't sound like a real talent. The actual meaning of this is simple; despite not studying once in her life, and sleeping through her classes, she's gotten straight As in every single subject consistently.
She's been put under intense observation and doesn't appear to cheat in order to do this. She's just able to do it naturally. She has a gift, perhaps she's a genius, but she chooses to use this strange ability not to enrich society, but to get by with the least amount of effort. Don't judge her, you probably would too. She's still a decently nice girl, although she often seems tired and disinterested. |
