And who must be doubted for the sake of survival?

Characters[]

Name Talent Gender Nationality Personality
Koyuki Nakajima Ultimate Journalist Female Japanese Koyuki is extremely determined when she sets her mind to something. Her time investigating various conspiracies has left her with a bold dedication to finding the truth behind everything, but has also rendered her somewhat paranoid and untrusting of others. In spite of her trust issues, she has a fierce protective streak and is more than capable of teaming up when necessary. She remains ever-vigilant in working and researching as much as she can to reach the truth, occasionally even at the cost of her own well-being.
Naora Matsushima Ultimate Film Critic Female Japanese Naora is an extremely sheltered girl with a habit of confusing movies with reality. Growing up in an extremely large estate, closed off from the rest of the world, she tends to believe that typical situations she sees in movies are common occurrences. She tends to give constructive criticism on everyday life, regardless of whether her opinion is solicited or not.
Shihi Kudo Ultimate Physicist Non-binary Japanese Shihi is curt and logical to a fault. They live by the principle that everything can be predicted through the use of common sense and causality. They find unscientific concepts such as luck or magic to be trivial nonsense, taking every opportunity to dismiss them as such. They pay more attention to their graphing calculator than those around them, which they carry with them to leave no room for human error in calculations and for use as a visual aid for those who are unfamiliar with the complex concepts they use in casual conversation.
Daewi Jin Ultimate Webcomic Creator Male South Korean Despite the popularity of his comics, Daewi still feels his work is not as good as other artists in the field. He is notably anxious and timid, a trait he frequently pokes fun at in his comics. However, as self-critical as he can be, it is mainly because he always strives to improve himself and his skills, no matter how skilled he is already. He also has a habit of making puns as a coping mechanism.
Erica Mohanty Ultimate Derby Pivot Female Indian-Canadian Erica is somewhat jaded and loathes being looked down upon, typically resorting to lashing out toward those who doubt her capabilities. Her competitive nature ensures she will consider most things as a challenge against her, which she tends to accept without fail for the sake of proving herself. Beneath her abrasiveness and insecurities, she ultimately wants to be accepted and acknowledged for the hard work she puts into everything she does.
Ayano Okura Ultimate Linguist Female Japanese Ayano is friendly, idealistic, and compassionate, wanting nothing more than for everyone to get along with each other. She is particularly adverse to conflict, acting as mediator to the group more often than not. She believes that every problem has a solution that will benefit everyone, seeking it out no matter how difficult things get.
Subaru Mitsubishi Ultimate Street Racer Male Japanese Subaru is arrogant and impulsive, as well as a self-proclaimed "ladies' man." He regularly hits on the female members of the group, telling exciting stories of his life as a street racer and hyping himself up at all opportunities. He is considered a scumbag by most of the other students, who mostly just choose to ignore his crude statements or warily avoid his short temper.
Miguel Sorola Ultimate Caregiver Male Mexican Miguel is the living embodiment of a Good Samaritan. Upbeat, outgoing, and always looking to help, he can usually be found chatting amicably with someone or keeping busy with whatever task he can find. He's a workaholic by nature, tending to be in constant motion and often forgetting to take time for himself. When someone is in need of medical attention, he's the first to jump into action, shifting from his friendly, outgoing demeanor to a calm, assertive laser-focus in an instant.
Suzuko Kikuyama Ultimate Hacker Demigirl Japanese Suzuko is self-defined as "chaotic-neutral" by nature. She only willingly does anything for her own gain, which typically consists of curing her boredom. She is extremely mischievous, regularly trolling and harassing the other students for her amusement, and is not above committing crimes just for the hell of it. She carries a purple 3DS wherever she goes that she diverts her attention to whenever she finds things to be particularly stale.
Tomoko Someya Ultimate Falconer Female Japanese Free-spirited and aloof, Tomoko is a tad of a space-cadet and can usually be found with her head in the clouds while sitting somewhere perplexingly high off the ground. She has an extremely close bond with her falcon, Sora, and is rarely seen without him. It is evident that she values his companionship far more than any of the other students, who she typically ignores unless they actively try to get her attention.
Toyoshige Obuchi Ultimate Information Broker Male Japanese Toyoshige is cool-headed even in the most unnerving scenarios. He always seems to be three steps ahead of everyone else, regularly unnerving the other students with just how much he knows about them and how they behave. He is particularly fascinated by Koyuki, due in part to their history before the Killing Game. Particularly stingy with the use of his talent, he answers most inquiries and requests with cryptic hints or favor requests to encourage the others to reach conclusions on their own. In spite of his sly nature, he is always friendly and polite, acting as if he is long-time friends with everyone while still using formal terms with them.
Yono Haibara Ultimate Voice Actor Male Japanese Yono is what most would call a hopeless romantic bishounen. His love of anime and storytelling is seemingly unmatched, causing him to actively seek interesting or unique stories in real life as well. He typically reacts to them with drastic amounts of praise and gets overly persistent in his prying when he smells a potential dramatic tale. Despite his charm and popularity, Yono seems adverse to excessive attention, actively avoiding being recognized in public.
Mizu Yasuraka Ultimate Fisher Female Japanese Mizu is calm and patient, a trait developed from spending hours waiting for fish to bite. She is seemingly half-asleep at all times and has a habit of nodding off at random or inopportune times. Even while awake, she has a disturbingly short attention span, regularly forgetting things that were just said or taking a particularly long time to fully process information.
Naho Todoroki Utimate Freestyle Dancer Female Japanese Naho is an easily-distracted otaku with a passion for gaming and music. She tends to be blunt in her observations, though usually doesn't mean offense or even realize she's doing it. Her lax nature makes her come off as fairly approachable and she typically acts indifferent to things that she doesn't consider important, though she has a habit of hyperfixating when something interests her.
Ieyasu Anzai Ultimate Jinx Male Japanese Ieyasu is a master of rolling with the punches purely by necessity. Thanks to having uncannily bad luck all his life, he's learned to accept whatever happens, no matter how problematic or unfair they are towards him. His passive, cynical attitude toward most things tends to be interpreted as "unmemorable." However, he always feels guilty in the event of his luck affecting someone else, actively trying to keep others from getting sucked into his misfortune.
Niou Kurata Ultimate Quizmaster Male Japanese Niou has what most would refer to as a classic Napoleon Complex. He takes any and all opportunities to showcase his plethora of trivia and problem-solving expertise. If he deems someone a worthy opponent, he refuses to leave them alone until he has bested them. Those he deems unworthy are subjected to his incessant down-talk and bragging, which gets extremely difficult to ignore at times.

Trivia[]

  • The series has been in development since the second chapter of Serial Bonding was released. However, the writer ultimately decided to wait until the first series' conclusion to release it.
  • Several of the characters' key traits, such as their names, nationalities, gender, and talents have been changed since their initial teasing.
    • These characters include Shihi, Erica, Miguel, Mizu, and Naho.
  • The title of the series, Exhibit B, is a reference to the story's museum location. It was initially named Despair's Great Bane, but the creator liked the new idea much better because of the pun and the fact that it sounded less pretentious.
  • Similar to Serial Bonding, the series is intended to be written in script-format. Unlike the original story, however, Exhibit B is planned to have sprite and music queues as well, along with a greater quantity of illustrated CGs and pre-prepared FTEs (the order of which will still be voted upon by readers).
